Vincent (“Vinnie”) Adams is a multi-instrumentalist, producer/songwriter and dancer who has been performing since the age of seven. As a graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in music, he has performed and recorded with several bands in New York, where he was born and raised. He has studied with and been influenced by many veteran drummers (Walter Perkins, Steve Gadd, Tony Lewis, Andre Strobert, Eric Adams) and was educated at Brooklyn Music School, The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and The New Muse. The styles of music he plays varies widely from Jazz to Funk, Rock to Pop, Hip-Hop, Calypso/Reggae too.

“Vinnie”, as he is known by most, has performed and/or recorded with the internationally acclaimed, Grammy winning artist, Speech (of Arrested Development) and world and industry renowned percussionist, Bashiri Johnson. Local NY bands such as Kolos, The David Pilgrim Band and The N’Result were home to Vinnie’s deep-pocket laden and hugely diverse, funky drumming style.

In addition to his endeavors as an instrumentalist, Vincent has also performed as a regular cast member of the Off-Broadway production of STOMP, having appeared with them on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. This exciting tenure at STOMP lead to his selection as the lead percussionist in a hybrid tap-dance-percussion ensemble called SLAM. As a part of the group, he performed in Hawaii for PEPSI’s 100th year Anniversary, sharing a collective performance roster with names like Rolling Stones, Ray Charles and Kool & The Gang.

Over time, Vinnie added to his many endeavors, authorship of his first book on Parenting entitled “Imitating the Fatherhood of God”, originally released in 2012. He is currently preparing for a re-release this year with brand new content.

Vinnie has also recently flexed his muscles performing locally performing with this year's Baltimore Rock Opera Society original theatrical production, “A Computer That Loves”. As a teaching artist and percussionist for Baltimore’s Dance & Bmore dance company (www.danceandbmore.com),he was a part of the workshop cast for the inaugural production of their new musical Voices of Carmen, now in its 3rd year of production and most recently, appeared in their 2024 Black Music Festival, a tribute to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Now as a member of the Greater Baltimore Church of Christ, he continues to serve the worship ministry there as a worship leader.

He has worked with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center, an Arts based non-profit in Baltimore, for the past 6 and a half years, to provide music instruction and Arts Administration to several schools across the DMV and the Greater Baltimore area at various grade levels. Now he joins the Moving History team to continue to build on that work. As a husband and father of four similarly talented children, he remains equally busy in cultivating their gifts and always excited to share them with anyone who wants to listen.
